Improving Agricultural Water Use Efficiency, Phase I

Improving Agricultural Water Use Efficiency, Phase I

The first phase of the project ‘Disseminating Knowledge to Improve Agricultural Water Use Efficiency in the Middle East’ centred on the establishment of a regional platform to facilitate knowledge exchange and the dissemination of good practices surrounding agricultural water use efficiency in the four Blue Peace ME member countries, as well as Iran and Syria.

The Managing Committee chose the agricultural water use efficiency theme as the agricultural sector is the greatest water consumer in the region and that there is great potential for water saving in this sector.

Led by the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN), the project offered regional water experts trainings and field visits in Türkiye. It also resulted in the publication of a joint report and training manual on agricultural water use efficiency, as well as a policy brief aimed at regional decision makers.

The project was jointly supported by SUEN and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation
